WITH KIND PERMISSION OF TIGER ASPECT PRODUCTIONS
THE VICAR OF DIBLEY
11 -26 FEBRURARY 2022 | SEASON 2022
WRITTEN BY IAN GOWER AND PAUL CARPENTER
ADAPTED FROM THE ORIGINAL TV SERIES BY RICHARD VURTIS AND PAUL MAYHEW-ARCHER
DIRECTED BY CHRIS GUYLER AND ALAN PATERSON
Adapted from the popular 1990s TV comedy, The Vicar of Dibley is set in the sleepy village of Dibley, where the elderly local vicar has just died and the parish council members, led by their pompous, opinionated chairman David Horton, are waiting to greet his replacement. They are definitely not expecting anyone like Geraldine Granger – ‘a babe with a bob cut and a magnificent bosom’! Nevertheless, kind-hearted, fun-loving Geraldine (aided by pea-brained verger Alice Tinker) sets out to win over the oddball inhabitants of Dibley while staying true to herself

Although they live together very harmoniously, Aussie dad Harry is forever encouraging his gay son Jeff, to find a partner in life. Jeff is shy and finds it difficult to make friends, let alone find a like-minded partner. During the course of the play, they both experiment with relationships, but with differing, yet satisfying outcomes. This is a joyous, uplifting show about very ordinary people.

When Dex Murdoch is diagnosed with a brain tumour, his three estranged daughters converge on the family home in the small coastal town of Eventide, to be with him in his final days. On the same day as their arrival, a fairy penguin washes up on the beach outside Dex's home, miles from where he should be. Over the course of several days, tensions, secrets and an unexpected act of violence bubble to the surface of this fractured family.
Eventide is a meditation on sibling rivalry, father-daughter relationships, and what matters when you're forced to say goodbye.
